An Auburn wheel manufacturer has announced it is laying off 224 employees.

According to the Alabama Department of Commerce’s WARN List, Wheel Pros began laying off the employees earlier this month, and will continue through March 7.

The company has not commented on the move.

Colorado-based Wheel Pros acquired an Auburn aluminum wheel manufacturing facility, Borbet, in 2020. The company is based in Auburn Technology Park North on Veterans Boulevard.

Wheel Pros is an automotive aftermarket wheel supplier, designing, manufacturing and distributing branded automotive aftermarket wheels, performance tires and accessories.

During its 2020 announcement, Wheel Pros said the move in Auburn would create about 300 jobs.
