Auburn announces new defensive line coach hire and position coach movement
Vontrell King-Williams has been officially promoted to the defensive tackles coach job at Auburn according to a press release from the school Friday, confirming previous reports from Rivals and 247Sports on Wednesday.
King-Williams was an analyst on Auburn’s staff in the 2023 season and previously worked under head coach Hugh Freeze at Liberty.
King-Williams takes the place of Jeremy Garrett, who reportedly took a job with the Jacksonville Jaguars but has not been officially announced yet.
Garrett was in charge of the full defensive line. King-Williams being announced as the defensive tackles coach has meant some shuffling among Auburn’s defensive staff.
Josh Aldridge, who coached the linebackers in 2023, will now coach the edge rushers. Defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin will be assigned the inside linebackers. Co-defensive coordinator Charles Kelly will coach the safeties and Wesley McGriff will coach the cornerbacks.
