Auburn adds 3-star in-state running back to 2025 recruiting class
Auburn added a late piece to its 2025 recruiting class Monday morning when hometown running back Omar Mabson committed to the Tigers.
Mabson, who announced he was reclassifying into the Class of 2025 in December, visited the Tigers this weekend. He helped Auburn High to the Class 7A quarterfinals in the fall.
He chose Auburn over Vanderbilt, North Carolina and others.
Mabson will be the second running back signed in this class, joining Elba High’s Alvin Henderson, the state’s all-time leading rusher.
The 5-foot-8, 210-pound Mabson rushed for 1,382 yards and 28 touchdowns on 201 carries this season. He also caught 11 passes for 185 yards and three TDs.
“He’s an unbelievable young man,” Auburn High coach Keith Etheredge said in December. “He has all the tools. He benches 375. He has a 4.4 40. He’s great in the classroom. He does all the little things right. He’s one of those kids you love to coach. I would love to coach him for another year, but I know that is kind of selfish. He’s ready to play college football.”
The 3-star prospect is ranked No. 27 among Alabama’s 2025 recruits, according to On3.
