Attempted murder suspect at center of Mobile standoff now in custody
An attempted murder suspect who was the target during a Wednesday standoff at a Mobile residence is now in custody.
Tawanne Lucas was apprehended by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit Thursday, one day after he eluded law enforcement during a standoff on Houston Street.
The sheriff’s office said a tip led them to the residence in search of Lucas.
Deputies went to the residence attempting to serve a warrant and take Lucas into custody. Despite hearing occupants inside the home, the deputies calls to come out went unanswered.
When no one responded, SWAT and K9 units were dispatched to the scene, but Lucas managed to escape the scene.
