ASWA prep rankings: Central-Phenix City, Saraland clear No. 1s
Class 7A Central-Phenix City and Class 6A Saraland continue to strengthen their hold on the top spots in their respective classifications in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association high school rankings.
The undefeated Red Devils received 18 of the 19 first-place votes in Class 7A following a blowout win over Region 3 foe Dothan. They lead No. 2 Thompson by 54 points.

Saraland received 15 first-place votes in 6A and expanded its lead over No. 2 Clay-Chalkville to 33 points. A week ago, the Spartans led Clay by just three points and received only 10 of the 19 first-place votes following the Cougars’ upset win over Class 7A Thompson.
