ASWA Baseball Rankings: One new No. 1 team in final 2023 poll

Alexandria moved to the No. 1 spot in Class 5A in the final Alabama Sports Writers Association high school baseball rankings of the season.

The playoffs start later today for Classes 1A-6A, later this weekend for the Alabama Independent School Association and next week for Class 7A teams.

Alexandria (26-5) jumped Headland (21-6) for the top spot in 5A. The other No. 1 teams remained the same – Thompson (7A), Oxford (6A), Priceville (4A), Gordo (3A), Bayshore Christian (2A), Appalachian (1A) and Glenwood (AISA).

Here are the final rankings. The ASWA does not rank teams in the postseason.
