Aspiring Alabama country singer faces arrest for violating bond to attend CMA Awards
A Mobile County court has approved an arrest warrant for a man who violated his bond to attend the Country Music Awards, according to court records.
Austin Tanner, an aspiring country music singer and tax adjuster, was indicted by a grand jury for insurance fraud, theft of property and attempted theft of property in April.
Efforts to reach Tanner, 38, of Orange Beach, and his attorney were not immediately successful.
Tanner was granted bond and one of the conditions under Alabama law requires that an individual remain in the state unless given permission by a court.
However, according to court filings, Tanner violated his bond by attending the Country Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee on Nov. 20.
Evidence for this is attributed to social media posts Tanner made to his Facebook and Instagram accounts.
“Last night was nothing short of magical as we walked the red carpet,” he posted in a picture with his wife.
“To everyone who has supported my music and believed in this dream your encouragement has brought me to this unforgettable moment. Here’s to country music and the stories that bring us all together.”
According to filings, Tanner knew the conditions of his bond because he previously asked the court if he could go to Florida.
A motion to revoke Tanner’s bond was approved and today a judge issued a warrant for his arrest.
A hearing has been set for December 4 regarding Tanner’s bond revocation.
