A Mobile man has been arrested and booked into the Mobile Metro Jail on a charge of murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle related to a deadly Jan. 15 shootout Interstate 165.

Dayell Levon Davis, 46, of Mobile was arrested by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Thursday and charged with a shooting that killed a 15-year-old girl and left her 9-year-old cousin wounded.

The intended target of the shootout is also facing charges. T’Marvin Jones, 18, was arrested on Jan. 17, and is charged with reckless endangerment and tampering with physical evidence.

All three were seated next to each other in the middle row of a SUV when the rolling shootout occurred sometime around 3 p.m. on I-165 near the Bay Branch Road exit.

It was the second time the 9-year-old boy had been shot during an incident in which the shooters were attempting to kill someone else.

The SUV’s driver was identified as the mother to Jones and the 9-year-old. Seated in the passenger side of the vehicle was the mother of the 15-year-old girl and a 4-year-old child who was in the backseat and was uninjured.
