An Alabama high school student was arrested Thursday after a gun was found in their backpack, authorities said.

The incident occurred at East Limestone High School when a school resource officer took possession of the gun, which was found in the student’s backpack, and took the student to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, according to WAAY.

In a statement to AL.com, the sheriff’s office only said that an arrest was made regarding an “incident” at the high school. Limestone County Schools could not immediately be reached to confirm the details of the incident.
