Army command at Redstone Arsenal welcomes new foreign military sales adviser
The Army command at Redstone Arsenal that oversees billions in foreign military sales has a new senior enlisted adviser.
Command Sgt. Maj. Michael S. Cordery assumed duties for U.S. Army Security Assistance Command in a ceremony Monday, according to an arsenal news release.
Brig. Gen. Allen Pepper, commanding general of USASAC, transferred the command’s colors from Command Sgt. Major Stephen A. Burnley to Cordery.
Cordery “will not only meet the challenges he finds here but overcome them,” Pepper said. “I look forward to him quickly gaining the confidence of the whole team; he already has mine.”
Originally from Baltimore, Cordery joined the Army in 1998 to become a military policeman, according to Redstone. He has served in numerous leadership roles including team leader, squad leader, platoon sergeant, first sergeant, troop sergeant major, battalion command sergeant major and brigade sergeant major.
He comes to Redstone Arsenal from White Sands Missile Range, N.M., where he served as the command sergeant major.
USASAC manages more than 6,000 foreign military sales cases in nearly 150 countries, the Redstone release said, with a total value of $280 billion. Fiscal year 2024 brought in $42.8 billion in new business.
“Training and equipping our partner and ally nations makes our relationships stronger, protects their nations, and is a shining example of deterrence which ultimately protects our nation and our warfighters,” Cordery said.
