Arkansas’ Rocket Sanders hasn’t seen Travis Williams rap, missed detail about him in Auburn recruitment

Arkansas’ Rocket Sanders hasn’t had a chance to see Travis Williams the entertainer.

He is just getting to know Travis Williams the defensive coordinator.

In fact, when the Razorbacks star was being recruited by Williams at Auburn, he didn’t even know it was for defense.

The Arkansas defensive coordinator became a viral sensation during his time on the Plains. After competing as a two-time All-SEC linebacker – including first-team honors in 2004 – leading the Tigers in tackles during their undefeated season in 2004, Williams returned to the Plains from 2014-2020.

In addition to being a former NFL player, Williams is a former rapper/producer. Williams set Twitter in 2020 when he posted a video of himself rapping over the instrumental to Lil Baby’s platinum hit “Sum 2 Prove.” It was a completely Auburn-themed verse.

On Wednesday, Sanders was asked if he had seen Williams’ lyrical work.

“No,” he explained. “But what’s real crazy is he recruited me at Auburn, right? I didn’t know he was a defensive coordinator, so the whole time I was talking to him, he was recruiting me for defense, and I didn’t even know it.”
