Argument leads to shots fired in Bessemer neighborhood; 1 wounded, 1 sought
An argument between two men led to a morning shooting outside a Bessemer home.
Officers were dispatched to a neighborhood in the 700 block of Ninth Street North about 8 a.m. Wednesday.
They arrived to find a man bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound to the leg, said Det. Justin Burmeister.
Officers applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg and then medics transported him to the hospital.
Burmeister said the victim was able to talk with officers and tell them what happened. The two men know each other and got into an argument.
Police initially believed the suspect was still on the scene and holed up inside a family member’s home.
They used a loudspeaker to try to communicate with him for about an hour but eventually learned he had fled.
Burmeister said they are actively searching for him.
