Area tournaments: Midfield rolls over Tarrant; McGill-Toolen girls swamp Robertsdale
The second-ranked and top-seeded Midfield boys rolled past No. 4 seed Tarrant 103-16 in the opening game of the Area 9 tournament at Midfield on Monday.
Shannon Jones led the Patriots with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals. Antonio Pope and Armonie Franklin scored 17 points apiece, with Franklin dishing out 5 assists. DeMarreon Baldwin had a double-double in the rout with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Midfield (20-5) will play Childersburg on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. for the area title.

Daphne 71, Foley 48: The Trojans advanced to the Area 2 championship with the win over Foley on Monday at Fairhope. Second-seeded Daphne will play top seed and fourth-ranked Fairhope on Wednesday at 6 p.m. for the area title.
Donovan Wilson pitched in 20 points and dished out 5 assists for the Trojans (17-12). Randy Williams scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the win. Javion Dailey added 11 points for Daphne.
Makai Mitchell led Foley (2-16) with 13 points. Shaborn Oakes added 12.

Girls 6A, Area 2 Basketball Tournament
GIRLS
CLASS 6A
McGill-Toolen 62, Robertsdale 28: Fourth-ranked and top-seeded McGill-Toolen whipped fourth seed Robertsdale on Monday in the opening round of the Area 2 tournament at McGill.
Senior Anna Reed McNeece led the Yellow Jackets with 19 points. The McGill-Toolen bench erupted on her final bucket that sent her over 1,000 points for her career, despite missing all but three games in her sophomore season with an ACL tear.
Sophomore Albanie Dixon scored 9 points for McGill-Toolen (25-5).
Brylee Joullian led Robertsdale with 9 points.
The Yellow Jackets will play the winner of the Spanish Fort-Baldwin County game on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. for the area title.
Lee-Huntsville 50, Buckhorn 41: The Generals pulled away in the second quarter of the Area 16 tournament opener with a 17-5 burst after leading 13-12 at the end of the first quarter.
London Harris scored 22 points, claimed 7 rebounds, had 6 assists and 5 steals for Lee. Lamiya Batimba had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Kayla Childress led Buckhorn with 17 points.
The Generals will play top seed Hazel Green on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Hazel Green 61, Mae Jemison 30: The top-ranked and top-seeded Trojans whipped Mae Jemison at home on Monday to advance to the Area 16 championship game on Thursday at 6 p.m. Hazel Green improved to 30-1 on the year.
Jaden Toney led Hazel Green with 14 points. Leah Brooks registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sydney Steward scored 9 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, made 3 steals and had 2 assists.
Jasmine Ervin led Mae Jemison with 10 points. Kaila Richardson added 7.

Priceville 62, West Morgan 32: The second-seeded Bulldogs improved to 19-8 on the season with the runaway win on Monday in the Area 13 tournament at Good Hope. Priceville broke open a 12-all tie after one quarter by outscoring the Rebels 25-6 in the second period and 21-4 in the third.
Leslie Hames led the winners with 17 points. Lauren Hames had 10 points, Abby Langlois grabbed 6 rebounds to go with her 8 points. Gracin Prater led Priceville with 10 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists. She finished with 5 points.
Haniyah Standridge scored 13 points to lead third-seeded West Morgan. Ansley Terry added 9.
Priceville will meet either No. 1 seed Good Hope or No. 4 East Lawrence for the area championship.
New Hope 83, North Jackson 32: Sophomore Kaylee Yarbrough broke two school records at the top seed and Area 14 host rolled past North Jackson. Yarbrough hit 10 3-pointers in two quarters and set a career high of 43 in three quarters.
New Hope will play the DAR-Madison County winner for the area title on Thursday at 6 p.m.
UMS-Wright 51, Bayside Academy 19: The top-seeded and seventh-ranked Bulldogs knocked down 10 3-pointers on the way to the win over Bayside at home in the opening round of the Area 1 tournament.
Junior Amelia Meador led the winners – who had 11 players in the scoring column – with 9 points on 3-of-5 shooting from behind the 3-point arc.
Misty Smith led Bayside with 10 points.
Orange Beach 37, St. Michael 30: The Makos avenged two regular-season losses with the win over second seed St. Michael in the other Area 1 game on Monday.
Orange Beach will play UMS-Wright on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at UMS-Wright for the area tournament championship.
Prattville Christian 68, Booker T. Washington Magnet 13: Top seed and third-ranked Prattville Christian picked up the Area 5 opener at PCA on Monday.
Hannah Jones led the Panthers (28-3) with 20 points and 8 rebounds with 4 steals. Avery Rogers scored 12 points with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Jenna McClendon scored 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the win. CoCo Thomas claimed 7 rebounds with 4 steals to go with her 8 points. Ally Blankinchip had 8 steals and LB NeSmith had 4.
PCA plays Wilcox Central at 6 p.m. on Thursday for the area title.

Elisabeth Hand scored 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the win. Alyssa Brooks claimed 13 rebounds to go with her 8 points for Danville.
Keeara Ricks led Colbert County with 14 points. Kairon Cooper scored 10 and Kameryah Taylor scored 9 on three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.

Lakeside 53, Pickens Academy 23: The Chiefs advanced to the AISA Final Four with the big win on Monday. Eighth-ranked Lakeside got a double-double from Jayden Green, who scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Chloe Helms scored 14 points and Eliza Eriksen scored 12 points and had 9 rebounds in the win. Sophie Seaborn had 6 steals, 4 rebounds and 8 points for the Chiefs.
Lakeside advances to the Final Four on Wednesday at the Montgomery Multiplex at Cramton Bowl.
