Apple pie is Americaâs favorite Thanksgiving dessert, but not Alabamaâs
Turkey, stuffing/dressing, cornbread, gravy — just a few of the staples of a traditional Thanksgiving feast.
But there’s another item no self-respecting Thanksgiving meal would be without.
Pie, or in most cases, pies — as in several.
USA Today recently published data provided by Google which sheds some light on the favorite pies in each state, based on the number of searches leading up to Thanksgiving.
While pumpkin pie often comes to mind when thinking of Thanksgiving treats, it was easily outpaced by apple pie across the U.S., taking the top spot in 34 states, with pumpkin pie the apparent favorite in just 14 states.
The two outliers? Hawaii, with Haupia pie; and Mississippi, with sweet potato pie.
So were did Alabama fall? Squarely in the pumpkin pie category, eschewing the more nationally popular apple pie and once again proving Alabamians are more than willing to buck national trends.
