As with Jones, Carlson, Jacobs, Reaves, Surtain and Williams received All-Pro recognition for the first time in their NFL careers. Hill has now been a first-team All-Pro four times, and Fitzpatrick earned the honor for the third time.
A third-round draft choice from Houston, Jones led the NFL in punt-return yards and punt-return average for the New England Patriots in 2022. He received 47 first-team and two second-team votes from the panel of 50 AP members that selected the All-Pro team. Jones also received one second-team vote at kickoff returner.
After breaking the NFL record for the most field goals of 50-or-more yards in one season, Carlson received 25 first-team and 10 second-team votes.
Fitzpatrick led the voting at safety with 45 first-team and four second-team votes. Fitzpatrick also was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2019 and 2020.
Hill finished second to the Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson in the wide-receiver voting. Jefferson and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce were the only unanimous selections for the team. Hill received 47 first-team and three second-team votes. Hill also earned All-Pro first-team recognition in 2016 (as a punt returner), 2018 and 2020.
The league’s leading-rusher, Jacobs received 42 first-team votes and five second-team votes.
Reaves paced the special-teamer voting with 24 first-team and 19 second-team votes.
Surtain finished second in the cornerback voting to the New York Jets’ Sauce Gardner. Surtain received 20 first-team and 19 second-team votes.
Williams finished second to the Kansas City Chiefs’ Chris Jones in the voting at defensive interior lineman. Williams received 22 first-team and six second-team votes.
Three players with Alabama football roots earned All-Pro second-team recognition:
· Philadelphia Eagles cornerback James Bradberry (Pleasant Grove, Samford) finished fourth at his position with eight first-team and 16 second-team votes.
· Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (Alabama) prevented the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes from being a unanimous first-team selection. Hurts got one first-team vote and 19 second-team votes.
· New York Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley (Theodore, Alabama) finished fifth at his position with nine first-team and 24 second-team votes. While Mosley has never been a first-team selection, this is his fifth appearance on the All-Pro second team.
Players from Alabama high schools and colleges who received All-Pro votes without making the first or second teams included:
· Washington Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen (Alabama) finished seventh in the voting for defensive interior linemen with three first-team and five second-team votes.
· Philadelphia Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson (Alabama) finished fourth at his position with two first-team and five second-team votes.
· Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs (Alabama) finished 13th at his position with two second-team votes.
· Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry (Alabama) finished fourth at his position with eight second-team votes.
