Another man, Marrio Moore, buried in Jackson, Mississippi without family knowing, report states
Weeks after it was revealed a man was fatally struck by a Jackson, Mississippi police SUV and allegedly buried without his family being notified, NBC News is reporting a homicide victim was buried in the same graveyard without his family knowing.
Marrio Moore was buried in the same place and on the same day as Dexter Wade, the report states.
Moore, 40, was beaten to death on Feb. 2, the report states. His sister learned of his death from an October news report on Wade that mentioned Moore had been killed and the family not notified.
Moore’s family began inquiring about his death and burial.
“A Hinds County coroner’s office investigator said in a report that she called Marrio’s brother but the phone number didn’t work. A police commander told the family that a detective left a card at Marrio’s mother’s house. But neither his mother, brother nor two sisters recall being contacted by anyone responsible for reaching his next of kin,” NBC News reports.
Wade’s mother did not know for months what happened to their son, thinking their son was a missing person, attorney Ben Crump has said.
Wade was buried in a pauper’s cemetery near the Hinds County Penal Farm in the Jackson suburb of Raymond before the family was notified of his death months later. He died the same day he left home after arguing with his mother, struck by an off-duty police officer along an interstate.
