Anniston man dies after being struck while walking on I-20, police say
Alabama State Troopers said a 66-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 20 in Cleburne County.
Troopers said Kenneth W. Cochran, of Anniston, was critically injured after being struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu on I-20, near mile marker 207, approximately three miles east of Heflin.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m. Sunday, and police said Cochran was pronounced dead while being transported to an area hospital.
Troopers say the Malibu was being driven by Angelo M. Matthews, 39, of Memphis, Tennessee.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division said it is investigating the incident and no further information was available as of Sunday night.
