Anheuser-Busch responds to Bud Light, Dylan Mulvaney anti-trans controversy

The CEO of Anheuser-Busch has weighed in on the controversy that came after TikTok influencer Dylan Mulvaney endorsed Bud Light.

Outrage over the endorsement erupted recently when celebrities such as Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, Travis Tritt and John Rich spoke out against the beer brand’s backing of Mulvaney, with Kid Rock going as far as filming himself shooting cases of Bud Light.

Rock took to Twitter to share a video of himself shooting Bud Light cases in response to Bud Light’s recent commercial, which features the transgender model and activist.

“I am responsible for ensuring every consumer feels proud of the beer we brew,” said CEO Brendan Whitworth.

“We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people. We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer,” the statement continued.

“I care deeply about this country, this company, our brands and our partners. I spend much of my time traveling across America, listening to and learning from our customers, distributors and others. Moving forward, I will continue to work tirelessly to bring great beers to consumers across our nation,” Whitworth said.

Mulvaney addressed the controversy on the podcast “Onward with Rosie O’Donnell.”

“I think it comes back to the fact that these people, they don’t understand me, and anything that I do or say somehow gets taken out of context and is used against me,” she said. “It’s so sad because everything I try to put out is positive. It’s trying to connect with others that maybe don’t understand me. It’s to make people laugh, or to make a kid feel seen.”
