Angel Reese, LSU basketball star, will now visit White House with teammates: ‘We were hurt’

LSU basketball star Angel Reese now says she will join with her teammates at the White House, despite being “hurt” after First Lady Jill Biden suggested the Tigers and runners up Iowa Hawkeyes should both be invited for the National Championship celebration.

Speaking to ESPN’s “Sports Center,” Reese said she’s now willing to do what’s best for the team in making the trip to visit the Bidens.

“At the beginning we were hurt, it was emotional for us because we know how hard we worked all year for everything and just being able to see that, that hurt us in the moment.

“But just going back on it, you don’t get that experience ever so being able to go back, and I know my team probably wants to go for sure and my coaches is supportive of that so I’m going to do what’s best for the team and if they would like to go and we decide we’re going to go, then we’re going to go.

“But it was tough just seeing that in the beginning but I think we’ll all come together and I think it’ll be good.”

Reese had earlier said she wouldn’t attend the White House ceremony after the first lady made a comment she wanted to invite both LSU and Iowa “because they played such a good game.”  Reese suggested the team visit former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle.

She tweeted a link to a story of Jill Biden’s remarks commenting they were “A JOKE.”
