A woman in a stolen ambulance led law enforcement officers on a brief chase along U.S. 280 before she was stopped and taken into custody.

Shelby County sheriff’s deputies received a call Wednesday evening from Shoals Ambulance reporting that an ambulance had been stolen from Grandview Medical Center.

The ambulance was reported to be traveling eastbound on U.S. 280.

Deputies made contact with the ambulance at the Walgreens off Doug Baker Boulevard. A short pursuit ensued and ended at Cahaba Valley Road.

The female was taken into custody.
