Allman Betts Family Revival coming to Saenger, with Jimmy Hall singing

The music of the Allman Brothers Band will fill the Mobile Saenger Theatre this December as the Allman Betts Family Revival Tour brings in an all-star lineup including Devon Allman, Duane Betts and Mobile’s own Jimmy Hall, as well as Luther and Cody Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars.

According to promotional materials, the show will feature one set of songs written by Gregg Allman and one set of songs written by Dickey Betts. Devon Allman is the son of the late Gregg Allman, and Duane Betts is the son of Dickey Betts.

Both have played Mobile before, including an occasion in February 2021 when their Allman Betts Band headlined the first popular music concert at the Saenger since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Devon Allman has a Mobile connection of his own, having attended Murphy High School at one time.

Hall is known primarily for his catalog as the lead singer of Wet Willie, a group that toured with the Allman Brothers Band in its heyday. Hall also has sung with various Allman-related ensembles over the years, in addition to work with Hank Williams Jr., Jeff Beck and solo work such as his 2022 album “Ready Now.”

Others in the revival lineup are Australian bassist and singer Tal Wilkenfeld, who like Hall has toured with Jeff Beck; singer-songwriter Jackie Greene; blues guitarist and vocalist Larry McCray; drummer and filmmaker Alex Orbison, son of Roy Orbison; and singer-songwriter-guitarist Ally Venable.

The show takes place on Dec. 16, a Sunday. Ticket prices start at $38 plus fees; general public sales start at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1 through Ticketmaster outlets including the Saenger box office.
