Allen Flanigan withdraws from NBA Draft, transfers to Ole Miss

Allen Flanigan withdrew his name from the 2023 NBA Draft Tuesday and confirmed he’s leaving Auburn after four years to play at Ole Miss as a graduate transfer.

Flanigan averaged 10.1 points, five boards, and 1.5 assists for a Tiger squad that lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Birmingham against Houston. His best season was 2020-21 when as a sophomore, he averaged 14.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in 27 starts while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 33.8 percent on threes.

The hopes of following up on the success were dashed when Flanigan suffered a partially torn Achilles tendon from a non-basketball-related injury in the preseason and was sidelined to start the year. He struggled to find his form in 27 games after returning in December from the injury. He averaged 6.3 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 39.5% overall and 20.5% from three.

Flanigan had a resurgence last season, getting back to averaging double-digit points. He’ll now turn his attention to finishing his final season of college eligibility with the bonus of getting to play under his father, Wes Flanigan, who left Auburn after working five years as an assistant on Bruce Pearl’s staff to take a similar role with Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard.

Ole Miss and Auburn usually play twice a year since they’re both in the Western division of the SEC. Get your popcorn ready for the Flanigan family’s return to the Jungle.
