Burkes Outlet across Alabama are getting new names.

Bealls Inc., owners of Burkes Outlet, is renaming all its stores across the country. The company is dropping the Burkes name and dropping the word “Outlet” at all 23 of its Alabama stores.

Fifteen stores have been rebranded in the last six weeks, including stores in Saraland and Troy that have been open in 1998.

There are no planned staffing changes at the stores.

“We’re making this change so it’s easier to find us everywhere and because some people think the word “outlet” implies seconds or excess merchandise,” District Manager Dedric Young said. “Our are stocked with great values on first quality brand name apparel, home and beauty products for the family.”

Bealls Inc. operates more than 600 stores in 23 states.
