All-around performance tops Week 10 Coastal Player of the Week voting

The Week 10 Cunningham Bounds Player of the Week was a standout on both sides of the ball as his team earned a critical victory to assure a spot in the playoffs. For his efforts, he also dominated in the Player of the Week poll.

St. Luke’s running back/linebacker Turner Tillman picked up 83 percent of the 35,386 votes cast in the survey – 29,373 total – to finish on top of the list. The sophomore caught 4 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown, ran 3 times for 21 yards and a 2-point conversion, and made 8.5 tackles, 2 for a loss, in the Wildcats’ 22-0 win at Chickasaw. A 6-foot, 180-pounder, Tillman’s efforts helped the Wildcats to improve to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in Class 2A, Region 1 play.

St. Luke’s will host Cottage Hill Christian on Friday in the regular-season finale.

St. Michael junior running back Noah Moss finished second in the balloting with 2,906 votes. The 6-1, 190-pound Moss ran for 183 yards and 3 touchdowns on 17 attempts as the Cardinals (8-1, 5-1) beat Orange Beach 42-21 to clinch the second seed in Class 4A, Region 1. Moss also had 5 receptions for 49 yards in the win.

The Cardinals will travel to UMS-Wright to close out the regular season on Friday.

Kevin Porter Jr. of Hillcrest-Evergreen finished third in the Week 10 survey with 1,547 votes. The senior quarterback threw for 3 touchdowns and ran for 3 more in a 45-22 win at Escambia County to close out the regular season at 8-2. Porther, a 6-2, 190-pounder, finished with 172 yards through the air with 96 yards rushing.
