All-around performance earns Huntsville Player of the Week honors

An all-around stellar performance topped the Week 8 Huntsville Player of the Week balloting.

Arab junior quarterback Drew Puccio earned 59 percent of the 2,879 votes cast in the weekly poll. Puccio threw for two touchdowns, ran for a score and caught a TD pass in a 63-35 win over Boaz. He also returned a kick 81 yards to set up another touchdown in the win.

Puccio is the second player from Arab to win the poll balloting this season after running back/linebacker Logan Silva was the Week 4 Player of the Week.

Tanner sophomore receiver Endymion Tyus finished second in the poll after scoring twice on runs and twice on pass receptions in a 64-34 win over Lexington.

Junior Graham Batey of Randolph was third in the poll after scoring a touchdown via a run, a reception and a pick-6 in a 75-13 win over DAR.

Voting for Huntsville Football Player of the Week opens on Sundays during the season and runs through Wednesday. Nominees are determined from statistics submitted by coaches or official team statisticians before noon each Saturday.

In Week 8, more than 31,000 votes were cast across the three AL.com player of the week polls.
