Alissa Turney’s stepfather acquitted in 2001 disappearance of 17-year-old in Phoenix

The stepfather of an Arizona high schooler has been acquitted in the 17-year-old’s 2001 disappearance, according to news reports.

A judge acquitted Michael Turney of all murder charges in Alissa Turney’s death, AZFamily reported.

“She was first reported as a runaway by Michael, who told authorities that Alissa had left a note and was going to California,” ABC 15 reported.

Her body was never found.

In August 2020, Michael Roy Turney was arrested on second degree murder charges, Phoenix Police announced via Twitter.
