ALDOT announces lane closures on I-20/59 for half of 2025
The Alabama Department of Transportation will soon be closing lanes at various locations on I-20/59 near Tuscaloosa to repair 15 bridge decks and install new guardrail, according to a recent announcement.
Lane closures are expected to begin Jan. 6 on I-20/59 westbound from near milepost 64 to near Exit 71 in Tuscaloosa and will continue until the summer, weather permitting, the release said.
According to ALDOT, the contractor must keep at least one lane open at all times and is not allowed to have more than a two-mile lane closure.
Comanche Construction was awarded the project at $4.59 million.
“Motorists should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits,” the release reads.
