Albertville man charged with attempted murder after roommate shot with crossbow

An Albertville man is being held in the Marshall County Jail on $250,000 bond after authorities say he shot his roommate with a crossbow.

Albertville police responded to an assault report Tuesday about 9:03 p.m. on Carlin Street.

They found Roy Errol Patterson Jr., 38, of Albertville, who had been shot in the torso with an arrow from a crossbow.

Patterson was treated on scene by Albertville Fire and Rescue and was later airlifted to Huntsville Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives say his roommate, Caleb Matthew Spurlin, 32, shot him during an argument.

Spurlin has been formally charged with attempted murder.
