Alabama’s weekend tornado count climbs to 4 and could go higher
Four tornadoes have been confirmed in Alabama from storms over the weekend, and that number will likely go up even more.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham on Monday confirmed a tornado track in Dallas County near the Sardis area.
It was an EF-1 with top winds estimated at 95 mph.
The weather service in Birmingham was also looking at damage in Barbour County but hadn’t released a determination about that area yet.
The weather service in Huntsville said it will look at damage in Jackson and Marshall counties today as well as an area in Tennessee:
And the weather service in Mobile said it is planning to survey damage in Wilcox County on Tuesday.
The weather service in Huntsville had also previously confirmed three tornadoes, all EF-1s, in Colbert and Lauderdale counties.
One of those storms was blamed for five injuries in the Muscle Shoals area.

Here are the tornadoes that have been confirmed so far:
- Six Mile Creek tornado (Dallas County): EF-1, top winds 95 mph. More details to come.
- Sheffield tornado (Colbert County): EF-1 peak winds 90 mph. Path length 8.43 miles; path width 275 yards. No injuries. The tornado touched down at 10:18 p.m. Saturday near the community of Pride. It caused several trees to fall on homes near Little Bear Creek. The tornado moved through Sheffield, where tree damage was noted, and lifted west of Highway 43.
- Tuscumbia tornado (Colbert County): EF-1, top winds 105 mph. Five injuries. Path length 12.45 miles; path width 280 yards. The tornado touched down at 10:25 p.m. Saturday just south of Highway 72 near Hawk Pride Mountain Road before crossing the highway and tracking along County Road 24 into southern Tuscumbia. The weather service said the tornado continued east into Muscle Shoals, where it caused significant damage in the Holiday Trailer Park area. Several large trees were uprooted and fell onto residential units, causing five reported injuries. The tornado tracked just north of Northwest Alabama Regional Airport and possibly lifted near Nitrate City.
- Aqua Vista tornado (Lauderdale County): EF-1, top winds 95 mph. Path length 9.11 miles; path width 250 yards. No injuries. The tornado touched down at 10:44 p.m. near the Aqua Vista community and lifted just south of Toonersville. The tornado damaged the roofs and fences of several houses, a shed and numerous trees.
The weather service said it will issue periodic updates on the survey teams’ progress.
