Red Clay Strays get a prime national showcase this weekend, courtesy of CBS.
The rising roots-rock band will be featured in the “Saturday Sessions” portion of “CBS Saturday Morning,” airing from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Central time on Saturday, Oct. 26. It’s yet another highlight in a big year for the band, which hails from the Mobile area: So far in 2024 the group has opened for the Rolling Stones, released a major-label album, played a sold-out tripleheader at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium and been honored as emerging act of the year by the Americana Music Association.
It won’t be the last highlight, either: This week the band shared a photo of itself on the set of NPR’s trendsetting “Tiny Desk” music showcase. NPR has yet to say when the Strays’ segment might air.
The band also has begun to release songs from “Live at the Ryman,” an album it will release in mid-November. “Will the Lord Remember Me” and “I’m Still Fine” can be heard via YouTube and other streaming services.
