Alabama’s newest Aldi location is opening next week

A new Aldi is coming to Pinson.

The discount grocery chain is set to open a store in the former Winn-Dixie location at 4701 Pinson Blvd on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 8:30 a.m.

The first 100 customers will receive a gift bag filled with samples of Aldi-exclusive products and a gift card. Shoppers will also have the chance to win a $500 Aldi gift card during a sweepstakes running through the store opening weekend.

In a press release, Karla Waddleton, the Mount Juliet vice president for Aldi, said the opening of the new Pinson store will continue to bring the grocery chain closer to the goal of 800 stores nationwide by the end of 2028.

The new Pinson store will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The upcoming Aldi in Pinson will be the third converted Winn Dixie location to open this month. The discount grocery chain is set to open a store in the former Winn Dixie location at 2910 Morgan Road on Bessemer on January 23. An Aldi store opened in a former Winn Dixie in Auburn at 1617 South College Street on Jan. 9. The grocers are three of a half-dozen stores around Alabama the discount grocery giant has converted from former Winn Dixie locations.

Last year, Aldi acquired Winn-Dixie and Harveys from Jacksonville, Fla.-based Southeastern Grocers. The deal included grocery store locations across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.
