Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer on Jalen Milroe’s overthrows: ‘I want to see those throws completed’

Alabama may have taken a 31-7 lead over Mercer on Saturday at halftime, but that doesn’t mean Kalen DeBoer is satisfied.

The Crimson Tide amassed 254 total yards in the first half. Quarterback Jalen Milroe threw for two touchdowns and 158 yards on 9 of 14 passing.

The Alabama coach was asked about a couple of overthrows by his quarterback.

“I want to see those throws completed, right?” DeBoer told The Crimson Tide Sports Network. “Let’s make those throws and completions. They are putting a lot of guys toward the line of scrimmage, and that’s why we are getting behind them.”

The Tide defense, other than giving up a late second-quarter score gave up 176 yards to Mercer, but forced three turnovers, including Zabien Brown 68-yard fumble return.

“I like that our defense continues to get the takeaways,” DeBoer said. “That’s just a piece of who we are and the mindset.

“I want to be a little more firm on both sides of the ball.”
