Alabama’s Bryce Young cancels remaining visits ahead of NFL Draft, per report

As the NFL Draft draws closer, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young is done visiting with potential teams, according to Tom Pelissero.

Pelissero tweeted the move by the Heisman Trophy winner only strengthens the idea that the Carolina Panthers will draft the quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick.

“Alabama QB Bryce Young has canceled his remaining pre-draft visits, per sources — another sign to back up belief within the league that the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner will be the Panthers’ pick at No. 1 overall,” Pelissero tweeted. “Young also visited the Texans, who draft No. 2.”

Young threw for 3,328 yards, 32 touchdowns last season for the Tide, completing 64.5 percent of his passes. In two seasons, his 79 passing touchdowns are the most in a two-year span in SEC history.

Young delivered during his throwing session at Alabama’s pro day in Tuscaloosa late last month.

He completed 44 of the 50 passes he attempted. Two balls were dropped while one hit the practice facility’s roof.

The only knocks on Young to this point have been his height and weight. During the Tide’s pro day, Alabama coach Nick Saban had a great reply to those concerns.

“I think you should ask the people that had to play against him the last couple of years and see if it affected his performance,” Saban said when asked if Young’s height matters. “I really don’t. I think he is so instinctive. He processes so well. He prepares so well. He has a quickness in the pocket. He plays the position like a point guard in basketball, and his production, consistency and performance have been off the charts. Most of the time those things will translate to the next level.”
