Alabamaâs Montana Fouts named to D1Softball All-American
Alabama pitcher Montana Fouts was among those named Tuesday as a D1Softball All-American.
Oklahoma leads with seven selections, including five on the first team. Kinzie Hansen, Tiare Jennings, Alyssa Brito, Jayda Coleman and Jordy Bahl make the first team.
Tennessee is has two first-team All-Americans (Kiki Milloy and Ashley Rogers).
The SEC leads all conferences with 10 players. The Oklahoma influence means the Big 12 has nine nominees. The Pac-12 follows with five, the ACC with four and the Big Ten with two.
Auburn pitcher Maddie Penta was named to the second team.
Fouts (25-10) earned her 100th win of her career with the Tide’s 3-2 win on Sunday. For the year, she has pitched 223 innings, striking out 319 and giving up only 134 hits. Her ERA is 1.48.
No. 5 seed Alabama makes its 14th appearance at the Women’s College World Series on Thursday, June 1 against No. 4 Tennessee. The winner of that game advances to play Saturday, while the loser plays in an elimination game on Friday.
