Alabamaâs College Football Playoff ranking unchanged after LSU win
Alabama football remained in the same spot when the College Football Playoff rankings were updated on Tuesday. The Crimson Tide sits eighth in the nation.
UA continues to sit one spot behind Texas, which won the head-to-head matchup when the teams met in Tuscaloosa in Week 2. The Longhorns narrowly survived Kansas State in Austin this week, winning 33-30 in overtime.
Alabama beat LSU 42-28 at Bryant-Denny Stadium to move to 8-1 on the season, 6-0 in SEC play. The Tigers had been ranked No. 14 in the initial playoff rankings, released last week, but slipped to No. 19 after losing to the Crimson Tide.
Ohio State remained at No. 1 for the second consecutive week. The top four teams remained exactly the same, with the Buckeyes followed by Georgia, Michigan and Florida State.
Washington and Oregon also stayed in place at fifth and sixth respectively. The movement in the rankings began just one spot behind the Crimson Tide.
Oklahoma had been ranked No. 9 when the first CFP top 25 was released. The Sooners fell in the final (for now) meeting in the Bedlam rivalry at Oklahoma State, dropping the matchup 27-24.
OU dropped down to No. 17 with the loss. Ole Miss moved up to the No. 9 spot, nipping on Alabama’s heels.
Alabama, which beat the Rebels in its conference opener, continues its SEC slate on Saturday at Kentucky. If the Crimson Tide can win in Lexington, it will clinch the SEC West, something that can also happen with an Ole Miss loss against Georgia.
The Tide and Wildcats are set to kick off at 11 a.m. CT Saturday. The game will be aired on ESPN.
