Alabamaâs senior NFL alumnus fined $14,819
Kareem Jackson has been a heavy hitter from the secondary throughout his NFL career. In the first game of his 14th NFL career on Sunday, it cost him $14,819.
Jackson was fined that amount by the NFL for an unnecessary-roughness penalty during the Denver Broncos’ 16-14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, NFL Network reported on Saturday.

Jackson was penalized after he tackled Las Vegas wide receiver Jakori Meyers on a 7-yard completion on a third-and-8 pass from the Raiders 44-yard line with 2:54 to play. The penalty gave Las Vegas a first down and helped the Raiders run out the clock on their victory.
Meyers left the game. He did not practice this week and is listed as out because of a concussion on the Las Vegas injury report for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.
Jackson tweeted a message about being fined by the NFL on Saturday, but it seemed to address a different subject.
“Dear NFL, can y’all please stop fining me for my pants,” Jackson wrote. “This (expletive) makes zero sense. SMH. How about y’all focus on something that’s meaningful and that will truly help the game like the refs or these fields that guys continue to get hurt on.”

Jackson opened the season as Denver’s starting right safety on Sunday. After spending nine seasons as a cornerback for the Houston Texans, Jackson has been a safety since joining the Broncos in 2019.
Denver’s 2023 season-opener was Jackson’s 194th NFL regular-season game and his 186th start.
The only Alabama alumni with more NFL regular-season starts than Jackson are linebacker Cornelius Bennett with 204 and tight end Ozzie Newsome with 191.
Former Crimson Tide players who have appeared in more NFL regular-season games than Jackson are punter Chris Mohr with 239, tight end Howard Cross with 206, Bennett with 206, Newsome with 198 and quarterback Bart Starr with 196.
The Broncos host the Washington Commanders at 3:25 p.m. CDT Sunday.
