Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide took a three-touchdown lead into halftime at Kentucky, but he wasn’t pleased with the way his team played in spots.

Alabama, rocking a 28-7 halftime lead over the Wildcats, made mistakes and needs to control the tempo of the game when possessing the ball, Saban said.

“Fumbled punt, pass interference in the end zone, made a mistake in coverage in the end zone that gave them a touchdown, so we have to play better in the second half,” Saban told the Crimson Tide Sports Network. “We have to control the tempo of the game on offense, I don’t care what the score is.”

Jalen Milroe threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as the Tide rolled up 240 yards of total offense. However, the quarterback’s interception didn’t sit well with Saban.

“He started out really well,” Saban told ESPN. “I think he has to take what the defense gives. We don’t want to throw interceptions. Throw the ball away They dropped eight guys. There was nowhere to go with the it. Sometimes you just have to give up.”

The interception occurred with about 5 minutes left in the half. However, Terrion Arnold picked off Kentucky on the next possession to end the threat.

“Guys have stepped up and played well,” Saban told ESPN. “We made a mistake down here on the goal line on their touchdown in the coverage. New guys playing new spots. Sometimes you get that. I’m happy with the way the guy are playing. But we got to come out in the second half and do a good job.”
