Alabama’s favorite color isn’t crimson, white, orange or blue

If you had to guess – and were familiar with Alabama’s love of college sports – you’d likely pick one of the familiar colors as the state’s top hue.

You know – crimson, white, orange or blue.

But, according to a recent analysis based on search terms, none of those earn the top pot.

Pixlr.com analyzed Google search terms for 22 different colors, as well as 25 different color-related terms for things like clothing, décor or themes, to determine each state’s “favorite” color.

Nationwide, red was the top choice across the country as the most searched color in 30 out of 50 states. The searches included things like “red hair,” “red dress,” “red wallpaper,” and “red background.” Across the 30 states, the 25 different red-related search terms are Googled a combined 844,190 times on average each month.

Pink was the most popular color in 12 states, including California, New York and Texas – and Alabama. Pink searches included things like “pink flowers” and “pink aesthetic.”

In Alabama, pink was followed by some more expected options – red in second, blue in third and orange in fourth – with purple coming in as the fifth-most searched.

The study also looked at the second most popular color in each state, finding that pink is the second most Googled in 22 states. In addition, red is the second most searched in 17 more states, meaning it is one of the two most popular colors in 47 states. Only Oklahoma (pink in first, brown in second), North Dakota (pink first, blue second), and Illinois (blue first, pink second) love red less than the rest of the country – it ranks as the third most searched in all three states.

Ohio and Pennsylvania stand out as the two states where brown is the most searched color overall.
