Alabama youth detention officer charged with in-custody sex abuse of 14-year-old boy

A Montgomery Youth Detention Facility officer has been arrested in the alleged sex abuse of a young inmate.

Kentavious Miller, 32, is charged with first-degree sexual abuse, the Montgomery County Office announced Thursday.

Assistant Chief Deputy Wesley Richerson said Miller is no longer employed as an officer at the facility.

Charging documents state the incident happened between 7:30 and 8 p.m. Sunday at the juvenile lockup.

The 14-year-boy was in his assigned cell when authorities say Miller entered the cell and grabbed the boy’s genitals.

Miller was taken into custody Wednesday. His bond was set at $7,500.

“The sheriff’s office is committed to prosecuting those who take advantage of their position to harm innocent victims,’’ Richerson said. “We will leverage all resources to ensure justice is carried out in this case.”
