Alabama youth coach suspected of sexual contact with children fatally shoots self during traffic stop, sheriff says
A man suspected suspect of sexual misconduct with children fatally shot himself Thursday as law enforcement officers tried to pull him over.
Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade the suspect is a volunteer coach under in a rural part of the county. He was under investigation for reported sexual contact with children.
At about 6 p.m., deputies attempted to pull over the man on Highway 21 at the Interstate 20 exit ramp in Oxford.
It was then, Wade said, that the man took his own life.
The investigation is ongoing and the sheriff said the man’s name is being withheld at this time.
