Alabama woman’s death leads police to Tennessee house and sound of gunshots killing 2 children, father

Madison County authorities are investigating the death of a Hazel Green woman that eventually led investigators in Tennessee to the scene of a murder/suicide involving her husband and two children.

Investigators in both states are currently trying to piece together what happened.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said deputies conducting a welfare check on Chelle Mill Lane at about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday found the body of a woman inside the residence.

She was identified as Jennifer Lepore, 43. Investigators have not yet determined a cause of death, nor how long she had been dead.

Lepore’s husband, Jamie Lepore, 46, of Hazel Green, and their two children had not been seen recently, the sheriff’s office said.

He was later linked to a home in the 2400 block of Cason Lane in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

According to Murfreesboro police, Madison County requested officers visit the home. They arrived about 8:30 a.m.

“As officers were speaking with the tenants outside, they heard several gunshots inside the home,” according to a statement from Murfreesboro police.

“Officers safely entered the home and discovered three individuals deceased. All were pronounced dead on scene.”

Lepore was discovered along with the couple’s two children, Jesse, 9, and Sean, 11.

Murfreesboro police said Jamie Lepore is “part of an ongoing homicide investigation.”

“It is truly a tragic situation to lose an entire family, especially in this manner,” Madison County Sheriff’ Kevin Turner said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victims.”
