Alabama woman convicted of shooting at DoorDash driver who had wrong address

A Shelby County woman was convicted last week of shooting at the vehicle of a DoorDash delivery driver who accidentally tried to make a delivery at her house, prosecutors said Monday.

Nancy Creasy, 53, of Indian Springs, faces between two years and 20 years in state prison following her conviction last Wednesday following a two-day trial in Shelby County Circuit Court, the county district attorney’s office said in a statement.

The driver mistakenly came up to Creasy’s driveway in 2020 and tried to make a delivery when Creasy fired three shots at the driver, including one that struck his vehicle, prosecutors said.

The driver was not injured.

Creasy, who was found to be intoxicated and admitted to Shelby County sheriff’s deputies who responded to the scene that she fired the shots, was initially charged with reckless endangerment. The charges were upgraded to shooting into an occupied vehicle when prosecutors presented the case to a grand jury in 2021.

“We are very thankful for the service that the jury rendered in this case in holding the Defendant accountable for her incredibly dangerous behavior,” Shelby County District Attorney Matt Casey said in a statement.

“This shooting could have easily resulted in the death or serious injury of the victim, who did nothing more than make the honest mistake of turning into the wrong driveway.”

A date for Creasy’s sentencing was not set as of Monday, but shooting into an occupied vehicle is a Class B felony with a potential punishment ranging from two to 20 years in prison.
