Alabama woman charged with capital murder in stabbing death of 8-year-old son
A Morgan County woman has been charged with capital murder in the stabbing death this morning of her eight-year-old son.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jennifer Nicole Long, 41, at the scene of an incident at about 5:30 a.m. on Village Drive near Hartselle. Priceville police also responded.
Officers arriving found the juvenile dead, as well as one adult man suffering from a stab wound.
He was treated at the scene and transported to Huntsville Hospital by Air Evac.
The child’s name, nor the name of the adult male, has not yet been released.
Authorities are still trying to piece together what happened.
Morgan County Schools Superintendent Tracie Turrentine released a statement dealing with the victim:
“It is with great sadness that we have lost one of our students in Morgan County,” the statement reads. “The student will be remembered for the joy he brought to his friends, classmates, and teachers. My condolences and thoughts go out to the family at this time.
“The loss of a student can be a difficult and challenging situation that can generate a high level of anxiety and distress in students. During this time, as the school community processes this news and copes with grief, please know that support services are available to those who need them.”
