Alabama will flirt with triple-digit temperatures today

Temperatures are expected to climb well into the 90s again today in Alabama, and a few spots could break the 100-degree mark.

The National Weather Service expects more upper 90s on both Monday and Tuesday, and the chances for a brief, cooling shower will be not zero but on the lower side.

However, the weather service said a weak “cold” front will move into the state this afternoon, and there is the chance some in north and central Alabama could see a bit of rain or even a storm.

No cooler air is expected to follow the front, however. Monday’s forecast again will feature high temperatures in the mid- to upper 90s, with more triple digits possible.

Some spots in south Alabama have a shot at seeing some rain on Monday as that frontal boundary sags southward and the sea breeze pushes inland, according to the weather service.

And Tuesday could be even worse as far as heat goes:

Wednesday still looks to be very hot, but a degree or two lower for some areas:

Look for rain chances to increase some for parts of Alabama on Wednesday, and those slightly higher chances could last into Thursday.

Speaking of Thursday, that could be the “coolest” day of the week, with highs still in the 90s but mostly on the lower end:

The weather service is forecast more highs in the mid-90s for Friday into Saturday as well.

Above-average (even for June) temperatures look to continue through the end of the month, and NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center thinks there will be high probabilities of a warmer-than-average July as well.
