Alabama wearing Mike Leach pirate cowbell helmet sticker in Sugar Bowl
Alabama’s football team will wear a helmet sticker honoring former Mississippi State coach Mike Leach during Saturday’s Sugar Bowl.
The program shared an image Saturday morning on Twitter of the sticker, which will be placed on the back of the helmet. The “MIKE” decal includes a pirate-themed cowbell in place of the letter “I.”
Leach, 61, died on Dec. 12 after suffering a medical emergency at his home in Starkville.
Several SEC schools have worn the helmet sticker during bowl games, including Ole Miss, Tennessee, Missouri and Arkansas.
The Sugar Bowl between Alabama and Kansas State kicks off at 11 a.m. CT from New Orleans.
