On Sept. 23, Alabama RB Jase McClellan ran for 105 yards and one TD on 17 carries in a 24-10 victory over Ole Miss. Williams’ other 100-yard game came in a 63-14 victory over Southern Miss on Sept. 25, 2021, when he ran for 110 yards and one TD on 11 carries. On Oct. 2, 2021, Brian Robinson Jr. ran for 171 yards and four TDs on 36 carries in a 42-21 victory over Ole Miss.

11 Consecutive Mississippi State coaches have lost in their first meeting with Alabama. The most recent MSU coach to win in his initial outing against the Crimson Tide was Darrell Royal in 1954, when the Bulldogs topped Alabama 12-7. In the 11 first-meeting games since, the Bulldogs scored more than seven points only twice, with a high of 14. Six of the new coaches were shut out in their first game against Alabama, including the past two. Zach Arnett will lead Mississippi State against Alabama for the first time on Saturday.

15 Consecutive games against Mississippi State have been won by Alabama. The Crimson Tide hasn’t lost to the Bulldogs since MSU defeated No. 21 Alabama 17-12 in 2007. Alabama leads the series 87-17-3 on the field. Alabama has played and beaten Mississippi State more times than it has any other opponent. The teams have squared off annually since 1948.

17 Points apiece have been scored by Mississippi State and its opponents in the first quarter, 41 points apiece have been scored by MSU and its opponents in the second quarter and 24 points apiece have been scored by the Bulldogs and their opponents in the third quarter this season. Alabama has won eight in a row in this circumstance dating to the Bulldogs’ 17-12 victory over No. 21 Alabama in 2007. This year, the Tide has its lowest ranking in the AP Poll for its annual game against MSU since that contest.

The most recent AP poll that did not include Alabama was the final one of the 2007 season. The only streak of poll appearances longer than Alabama’s belongs to Nebraska at 348. After beating Colorado 59-0 on Oct. 10, 1981, Nebraska was ranked No. 19 two days later, and the Cornhuskers were not unranked again until the Sept. 29, 2002, poll, after back-to-back losses to Penn State and Iowa State dropped them to 3-2.

300 Games have been played by Alabama since it was most recently shut out. Alabama’s scoring streak is the third-longest in SEC history and the 14th-longest in major-college football history. Alabama’s most recent shutout loss came 9-0 to Auburn on Nov. 18, 2000.

487 Passing yards by Mississippi State QB Will Rogers in the Bulldogs’ 37-30 loss to South Carolina last week, the second-most by an NCAA FBS player this season. The output jumped Rogers from sixth to third on the SEC’s list for career passing yards. WR Lideatrick “Tulu” Griffin caught 256 of Rogers’ passing yards as he had seven receptions and one TD to set a school single-game record for receiving yards.
