Alabama vs Michigan live updates in ReliaQuest Bowl

Alabama football looks to score a victory over Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl to end the 2024 season.

The Crimson Tide faced the Wolverines the first day of the calendar year in the Rose Bowl as part of the College Football Playoff. Now, Alabama closes the year with another matchup against Michigan, but there’s no spot in the national championship game at stake.

The coaches are also different. A season ago, Nick Saban and Jim Harbaugh faced off in the Rose Bowl. This season, Kalen DeBoer and Sherrone Moore coach against each other in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

Alabama aims to extend its streak to 17 seasons with 10 or more wins. The Crimson Tide enters the matchup at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa 9-

Second quarter

  • Alabama can’t convert on third-and-long and has to punt.
  • 14:15 Michigan takes over on its own 20-yard line. The first time Wolverines have taken over in their own territory. Third-and-2, Jihaad Campbell makes the tackle but its a two-yard gain for the first down. Alabama eventually forces a punt.
  • 9:41: Alabama takes over on its own 16-yard line. Richard Young gains a first down with his legs, but Milroe is sacked on first down to set up second-and-18 from the Alabama 19-yard line. Third-and-18, Jalen Milroe overthrows Ryan Williams along the left sideline. Alabama will have to punt again.
  • 7:22: Michigan takes over on its own 29-yard line. Third-and-6, pass is incomplete. Three-and-out for Michigan.
  • 5:56: Alabama takes over on its own 29-yard line. Rico Scott carries for 28 yards. Next play, CJ Dippre catches a pass, fumbles and right tackle Elijah Pritchett recovers and rumbles for a few yards. Then, Jalen Milroe hits Robbie Ouzts for a 25-yard TD pass. Alabama draws within 16-7 with 4:06 left before halftime.
  • 4:01: Michigan takes over on its own 19-yard line. Third-and-10, Michigan completes the pass but is tackled short of the first down. Fourth-and-3, Michigan will punt.
  • :58: Alabama takes over on its own 4-yard line. On third down and short, Jalen Milroe runs for 41 yards. Alabama now has the ball on the Michigan 46-yard line. Next play, Milroe completes a pass to Germie Bernard who gets to the 6-yard line. Alabama spikes the ball and has the ball with 17 seconds left on the 6-yard line. Third-and-6, Milroe floats it while facing pressure. Alabama will attempt a field goal. Graham Nicholson makes the 24-yard field goal. Michigan leads 16-10 with four seconds left.
  • Halftime: Alabama trails Michigan 16-10.

First quarter

  • Alabama drive starts on own 35-yard line. Alabama goes for it on fourth-and-5 but Jalen Milroe is sacked. So Michigan takes over in Alabama territory.
  • 12:16: Michigan drive: Wolverines have third-and-6 from the Alabama 40-yard line. Davis Warren completes a pass to a receiver for the first down with a 10-yard pass to Hogan Hansen. The rain is falling during this Michigan drive. Third-and-16 from the Alabama 36-yard line, Michigan gains yards on a short pass but can’t get the first down. The Wolverines bring out the field goal unit. Dominic Zvada kicks a 45-yard field goal to give Michigan a 3-0 lead with 8:15 left in the first quarter.
  • 8:15: Alabama takes over for its second drive. The first play, with pouring rain, Jalen Milroe fumbles the snap and Michigan recovers.
  • 8:10: Michigan takes over at the Alabama 19-yard line. Third-and-6, Hall runs but is short of the first down. Brings up fourth-and-3. Michigan kicks a 30-yard field goal to take a 6-0 lead with 8:10 left.
  • 5:52: Alabama takes over on its own 15-yard line. Second play, Jalen Milroe throws an interception on an out route. Third turnover in the first quarter for Alabama.
  • 5:03: Michigan takes over on the Alabama 16-yard line. Third-and-7 at the 13-yard line, Frederick Moore catches a touchdown pass. 13-0 Michigan over Alabama with 4:15 left in the first quarter.
  • 4:15: Alabama takes over on its own 25-yard line. First play, Milroe is sacked and fumbles. Michigan recovers.
  • 4:08: Michigan takes over on the Alabama 6-yard line. Alabama defense forces a three-and-out. Michigan kicks a field goal. 16-0 Michigan up with 2:04 left in the first quarter.
  • 2:04: Alabama takes over on its own 25-yard line. First play, Milroe rushes for eight yards. On third-and-2, Jam Miller rushes two yards for the first down.
  • End of first quarter: Michigan leads Alabama 16-0. The Crimson Tide has -2 yards.

Pregame: Alabama injury update, depth chart

  • Starting left tackle Kadyn Proctor went through warmups and is expected to play vs. Michigan.
  • Zavier Mincey is expected to get the start at strong safety with Malachi Moore out for the game.
