Alabama voters share their top concerns this Election Day: Here’s what they say matters most

Alabama voters are worried about protecting women’s rights, uplifting the economy, and preserving democracy in this week’s election.

On Nov. 5 AL.com asked readers “What is the most important issue to you when you vote today?” in posts to Facebook and X.

The Facebook post has received nearly 400 responses as of 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. And a majority of commentors say they are worried about the same things.

In all but a few of the comments people mentioned protecting democracy, protecting women’s rights/healthcare, or both.

“My Family and I are voting for our Future, Freedom, Democracy, Voting Rights, Reproductive Rights, Peace, Normalcy, Diversity, Equality, Inclusion, the Economy,” one commentor wrote.

Several other commentors mentioned inflation as one of their top concerns.

“Price of food gas and rent, we have to live,” wrote another.

And some say they are hoping for less division moving forward.

“The decision I made was that whoever wins will do right for the American people and not for themselves…wishful thinking I know…,” one man wrote.
