Alabama volunteer fire chief charged with fraudulently using squad’s credit card

An Alabama volunteer fire chief was charged with fraudulently using his squad’s credit card after prosecutors claimed he made nearly $1,900 in unauthorized purchases.

Marengo County Fire Rescue Squad Chief Denson “Denny” Baynham Jr., 53, of Linden, was also charged with first-degree theft of property, court records showed.

Baynham allegedly used the credit card issued to the squad on Dec. 1, according to the complaint filed in Marengo County District Court.

According to the complaint on the theft of property charge, Baynham made unauthorized purchases totaling $1,880.

Further information on the allegations were not immediately available.

Aside from being a volunteer fire chief, Baynham is also a tech installer and works as a solid waste officer for the county, according to his Facebook page.
