Alabama tornado count climbs again

The tornado count from last weekend’s severe weather has climbed again and stood at 23 on Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Mobile added five new confirmed tornadoes to the total, with several of them being EF1s with winds of 100 mph or higher.

None of the newly confirmed twisters caused any reported injuries.

Here are the newest confirmed tornadoes:

1. Barnett Crossroads tornado (Escambia County) — Dec. 28, EF1, top winds 100 mph.

2. Range tornado (Conecuh County) — Dec. 28, EF0, top winds 85 mph.

3. Burnt Corn tornado (Monroe County) — Dec. 28, EF1, top winds 100 mph.

4. Bookers Mill tornado (Conecuh County) — Dec. 28, EF1, top winds 100 mph.

5. Mt. Pisgah Road tornado (Butler County) — Dec. 29, EF1, top winds 110 mph.

That puts the total number of confirmed tornadoes from Dec. 28 and 29 at 23.

10. Beaverton tornado (Lamar County) — Dec. 28, EF0, top winds 70 mph.

11. Sunny Home tornado (Marion County) — Dec. 28, EF0, top winds 75 mph.

12. El Gezria Road tornado (Shelby County) — Dec. 29, EF0, top winds 80 mph.

13. Knight Place Road tornado (Lowndes County) — Dec. 29, EF0, top winds 85 mph.

14. Coosa Island Road tornado (St. Clair County) — Dec. 29, EF0, top winds 85 mph.

15. Roberts Mill Pond Road tornado (St. Clair County) — Dec. 29, EF1, top winds 110 mph.

16. Hargrove Lane tornado (Lowndes County) — Dec. 29, EF0, top winds 70 mph.

17. Hope Hull tornado (Montgomery County) — Dec. 29, EF1, top winds 95 mph.

18. Mt. Zion Road tornado (Montgomery County) — Dec. 29, EF1, top winds 100 mph.

19. Cecil tornado (Montgomery County) — Dec. 29, EF0, top winds 80 mph.

20. Jackson Road tornado (Macon County) — Dec. 29, EF0, top winds 75 mph.

21. Shorter tornado (Macon County) — Dec. 29, EF0, top winds 75 mph.

22. County Road 8 tornado (Macon County) — Dec. 29, EF0, top winds 85 mph.

23. County Road 56 tornado (Macon County) — Dec. 29, EF0, top winds 60 mph.

That number could still rise. The weather service in Mobile said on Wednesday afternoon that a survey team was looking at damage Bayou La Batre in Mobile County.
